I had used dkms and the VirtualBox deb files for a number of years. In light of the recent thread, I switched to dmakms and the Debian virtualbox, first purging VirtualBox-4.1 and dkms and then following hubi's imminently clear advice.
The switch seemed to go without a hitch. Now, however, dmakms rebuilds the virtualbox modules every boot. I have configured dmakms to rebuild another module following a kernel update -- tp-smapi-source -- and so far as I can tell from boot messages, it does not rebuild these modules every boot.
Any suggestions as to what causes this and how I might cure the problem?

I think it is fixed in the version (0.6.13) which is in the aptosid repo now. |

Right, everything is fine after upgrading dmakms. |
