I've noticed a white flash in the last segment of the splash animation, at the 6 oclock position on the stinger. Here's my graphics info if that helps:

I don't have an nVidia card to test with, but my first guess would be this is a problem with the proprietary driver or ksplash or mesa or ... There's nothing in the art files that would case a flash. Keep dist-upgrading and see if the problem solves itself.
